Individuals may be nominated by chapters who submit a detailed narrative of the activities and accomplishments
of the individual involved. Chapters nominate, but the Selection Committee decides who best meet the criteria.
Once nominated the individual remains under permanent consideration; chapters may submit at any time additional
information about the individual to strengthen his or her case for selection.
The international Board of Trustees has established the following minimum criteria for consideration:
- A record of no less than 10 years of service to the organization as chapter adviser, officer, or Board of
Trustees member or in some other meritorious capacity.
- An exemplary record of achievement and contribution in the social sciences and dedication toward Pi Gamma
- A majority vote among members of the Hall of Fame Selection Committee and the Board of Trustees.
Beyond a nominee’s activities as a Pi Gamma Mu volunteer or employee, chapters should also consider his or her role as an
academic in the social sciences: Did he or she make contributions to social science curriculum development on campus?
Was he or she they active in doing research and publishing in the social sciences? Was he or she a member or leader of other
organizations associated with the social sciences? Was he or she an effective and innovative teacher in the social
The Selection Committee will receive applications at any time although selection of inductees will take place
no more frequently than once each year.
