Join us for the second Leadership Development Program during the 2021 Virtual Triennial International Convention! Program participants will learn about leadership in a variety of different contexts to include leadership in academia, stressful environments, non-profit organizations, public policy and in the United States Marine Corps.
Participants must be Convention participants and Pi Gamma Mu members.
In light of recent events affecting Asian, Asian American, and Pacific Islander communities, Pi Gamma Mu issues the following statement:
STATEMENT AGAINST HATE CRIMES AND RACISM AFFECTING ASIAN, ASIAN AMERICAN, AND PACIFIC ISLANDER (AAPI) COMMUNITIES
Pi Gamma Mu condemns the ongoing and intensifying racism and subsequent hate crimes we have witnessed against the Asian, Asian American, and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities.
Pi Gamma Mu was forced to postpone its 2020 Triennial International Convention for one year by the global viral pandemic. The 2021 Triennial convention will thus take place in early November of this year (November 3-6, 2021), but it will be a virtual convention.
The 2021 Student and Chapter Poster Session will be held during the 2021 Virtual Triennial International Convention this November 3-6. Detailed guidelines and information on how to submit a “virtual” poster, along with session logistics (date, time, place), will be sent for all accepted posters at a later date. Poster proposals are being accepted now.
We wish to thank our Chapter Faculty Sponsors for their volunteerism and support, especially during this difficult time of COVID-19. We understand that this is a challenging time for students and faculty alike and we hope that you remain safe and well. Here at Pi Gamma Mu, we continue our work to support our chapters and members and are here to help.
Each year, the Pi Gamma Mu International Board of Trustees recognizes Pi Gamma Mu's most active chapters by placing them on the annual Roll of Distinction (the highest award for chapters) and Roll of Merit.
The Rolls are the result of the Awards Committee's evaluation of the annual reports filed by chapter officers.
When Chera P. applied for membership in Presentation College’s South Dakota Zeta Chapter, she felt that her academic success not only reflected her determination as a student but also for her career aspirations. Chera, who is an enrolled member of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, commented that she wanted “not only her advisors but future employers to know that I gave it all I had to make good grades.”
Because the 2021 Pi Gamma Mu Triennial International Convention will be held virtually, this is the most affordable time to attend a Pi Gamma Mu convention. Without the costs of flights and hotels, now is the perfect time to attend a Pi Gamma Mu Convention for a small registration fee. This virtual convention will include the same key features as all Pi Gamma Mu conventions, including student paper presentations, an optional student Leadership Development Program, a keynote speaker, roundtable discussions, student elections to the Board of Trustees, networking opportunities, and more!
Please join Wayne State College and other chapters in the Pi Gamma Mu National Service Project!
Chapters are working together to support veterans, the homeless, and animals in animal shelters. Chapters may choose to do one, two, or all three components of the service project.
The Pi Gamma Mu Alumni Council congratulates all Pi Gamma Mu members on their accomplishments. The Council encourages alumni members to email their educational and career updates to [email protected] with the subject line “Alumni Spotlight” for inclusion in a future issue of the Pi Gamma Mu Newsletter.
Even though Pi Gamma Mu was forced to postpone its 2020 Triennial International Convention for one year due to COVID-19, the Society still held a Call for Student Papers in 2020. Despite many challenges, Pi Gamma Mu's Committee of Readers remained dedicated to providing this important opportunity to students. Dr. Charles Hartwig, Chair of the Committee of Readers and Regional Chancellor on the Pi Gamma Mu Board of Trustees championed this important project on behalf of the members of Pi Gamma Mu.
Dr. Clara Small, Second Vice President of the Pi Gamma Mu Board of Trustees and Professor Emerita at Salisbury University, profiles 65 notable African Americans in the third volume of her series, Compass Points: Profiles and Biographies of African Americans From the Delmarva Peninsula. The book includes brief biographies of well-known, and not-so-well known, but impactful, African Americans from the region.
Pi Gamma Mu's exclusive merchandise not only allows you to proudly display your achievement and affiliation with the society, but merchandise purchases also support the activities of Pi Gamma Mu and help us finance our programs and awards.
Honor Societies have existed as a part of the higher education tradition since 1885. In 1925 the Association of College Honor Societies (ACHS) was established to help colleges and universities assess the value and credibility of these organizations. Pi Gamma Mu has been an accredited member of the ACHS since 1953.
