We have completed another great convention with over 80 students, faculty sponsors, and alumni in attendance in Charleston, SC last month. Outstanding research papers were presented, chapters shared their unique stories, and we got some great ideas directly from chapter sponsors and students who participated in our new strategic planning process.

One message we received is that in this period we need to work closely with chapters to reach more outstanding students in the social sciences who deserve to be honored through membership.

ACHS MEMBERSHIP PROTECTS THE LEGITIMACY OF HONOR SOCIETIES

Honor SocietyPi Gamma Mu is one of 66 members of the Association of College Honor Societies (ACHS), which is the authority on standards and definitions for the honor society movement. ACHS has stepped up efforts to alert the higher education community to the standards of traditional honor societies. In contrast, some new so-called honor societies exist online and allow self-nomination, accepting fees with no questions asked. If in doubt about an organization, you can check out the ACHS Web site (www.achshonor.org) for the list of honor societies that are members.
