After much deliberation on the part of the Pi Gamma Mu Awards Committee, the committee's chairperson, Dr. Clara Small, recommended 12 scholarship winners to the Board of Trustees. The board awarded the scholarships to the following lifetime members of Pi Gamma Mu:
The $2000 Carroll Parish Scholarship was awarded to Jacqueline Selvaggi. Selvaggi is a member of the New York Lambda Chapter at Saint Thomas Aquinas College where she earned a B.S. in Psychology. She is attending graduate school at the University of South Carolina where she is studying Social Work. Dr. Heath Bowen is the Faculty Chapter Sponsor of the New York Lambda Chapter. |
Alexandria Bartels is the recipient of the $2000 Marvel Stockwell Scholarship. Bartels earned a Bachelor's degree from Wayne State College in 2017 and is a member of the Nebraska Delta Chapter at the College. She is currently a full-time first year student at the University of Nebraska College of Law with an expected graduation date of May 2020. Dr. Randy Bertolas and Dr. Jean Karlen are the Co-Sponsors of the Nebraska Delta Chapter. |
The $2000 Effie B. Urquhart Scholarship was awarded to John Elmore III. Elmore was inducted into the Alabama Delta Chapter at Troy University. He earned a B.S. degree in Anthropology at Troy in 2017. Elmore is attending graduate school at the University of West Florida. Professor Sue Ellen Weeks is the Faculty Chapter Sponsor of the Alabama Delta Chapter. |
The Daniel E. Quigley Scholarship of $1000 was awarded to Catherine Houseman. Houseman is a member of the District of Columbia Alpha Chapter at Catholic University of America where she earned a bachelor's degree in Politics. She is currently enrolled at Temple University James E. Beasley School of Law. Dr. Sandra Barrueco is the Faculty Chapter Sponsor of the DC Alpha Chapter. |
David Tamasy was the recipient of the Gordon E. Mercer Scholarship of $1000. Tamasy was inducted into the Pennsylvania Alpha Kappa Chapter at the University of Pittsburgh – Greensburg where he earned a B. A. in History and Political Sciences. He is currently attending law school at Duquesne University in Pennsylvania. Dr. Geoffrey Wood is the Faculty Chapter Sponsor of the Pennsylvania Alpha Kappa Chapter. |
