2020 TRIENNIAL INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION RESCHEDULED FOR 2021

The 2020 Triennial International Convention has been postponed and rescheduled for 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  The Convention will be held on November 4-6, 2021, in Washington, DC.  

CALL FOR STUDENT PAPERS

Even though Pi Gamma Mu has been forced to postpone its 2020 Triennial International Convention for one year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, student members are still encouraged to submit completed social science research papers for the 2020 Convention. Even though there will be no convention in November of this year, accepted papers can be listed in resumes as "Accepted but not presented, since the 2020 Convention was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic."

CHAPTER ANNUAL REPORTS – DEADLINE EXTENDED TO SEPTEMBER 30

Given the many challenges of 2020, we are extending the deadline for Chapter Annual Reports to September 30, 2020.  Please visit http://pigammamu.org/chapter-reporting.html to
complete your annual report if you haven't already done so.  If you have already sent in your chapter annual report, thank you! There is nothing more you need to do related to the report although we have added one question:
How has COVID-19 impacted your college/university and your chapter and how do you think COVID-19 will affect your chapter in 2020-2021?

PI GAMMA MU RECOGNIZES ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE BY ESTABLISHING NEW CHAPTERS AROUND THE COUNTRY

Pi Gamma Mu International Honor Society in Social Sciences recognizes academic excellence in the social sciences by establishing new chapters at colleges and universities across the United States.

ONLINE MEMBERSHIPS NOW AVAILABLE

At Pi Gamma Mu we understand that this has been a challenging year for students and faculty alike who have had to make sudden adjustments due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  We hope that you are safe and well during this very difficult time.  In response to the increased need for online solutions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Pi Gamma Mu is now accepting online payments for memberships.  Your students will now be able to pay their $50 lifetime membership fee online, directly to our office, using any credit card accepted by PayPal.

ACHS MEMBERSHIP PROTECTS THE LEGITIMACY OF HONOR SOCIETIES

Pi Gamma Mu is one of 70 members of the Association of College Honor Societies (ACHS), which is the authority on standards and definitions for the honor society movement. ACHS has stepped up efforts to alert the higher education community to the standards of traditional honor societies. In contrast, some new so-called honor societies exist online and allow self-nomination, accepting fees with no questions asked. If in doubt about an organization, you can check out the ACHS Web site (www.achshonor.org) for the list of honor societies that are members.

CHANGE OF EMAIL ADDRESS

Pi Gamma Mu communicates with its lifetime members via email. Anytime your email address changes, such as after graduation or when you change jobs, please notify the Pi Gamma Mu office immediately. This will prevent your emails from being interrupted or discontinued. Simply email your new email address to [email protected] or go to our Web site (pigammamu.org) to change your address information. We will need both your old email address and your new email address to update our records. Thank you very much for taking a few minutes to keep your information current.
