The mission of Pi Gamma Mu is to encourage and promote excellence in the Social Sciences and to uphold and nurture scholarship, leadership, and service.

SPRING MEMBERSHIP DRIVE - Online System Now Available

We wish to thank our Chapter Faculty Sponsors for their volunteerism and support, especially during this difficult time.  We understand that this is a challenging time for students and faculty alike and we hope that you remain safe and well.  Here at Pi Gamma Mu, we continue our work to support our chapters and members and are here to help.  Please take time this semester to recognize your top social science students by providing them with an invitation to join Pi Gamma Mu.  An invitation means more now than ever given all the losses students have faced due to COVID-19. Additionally, it is the lifetime membership fees collected by Chapter Faculty Sponsors that allows Pi Gamma Mu to operate and to provide services to its members such as scholarships, a professional journal, conventions, presentation opportunities, and more.  The fees also allow the Society to maintain fiscal stability and prepare for a strong future.  We thank the Chapter Faculty Sponsors for this important work!

In response to the increased need for online solutions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Pi Gamma Mu is now accepting online payments for memberships.  Your students are now able to pay their $50 lifetime membership fee online, directly to our office, using a credit card.  Chapter sponsors who use this option are no longer required to collect the lifetime membership fees and mail them to headquarters.

If you prefer to collect and mail in the payments and registration forms, we will happily continue to accept memberships through the mail.

We hope that you will strive to make both your chapter and Pi Gamma Mu stronger by inviting all eligible students to join.  Remember that students may now qualify as second-semester sophomores and that Pi Gamma Mu is interdisciplinary in nature.  We encourage your chapter to include all eligible disciplines: anthropology, criminal justice, economics, geography - human, gerontology, history, history of education, human services, international relations, political science, psychology, social philosophy, sociology, social work, as well as related interdisciplinary programs anchored in the Social Sciences, particularly those that focus on age, environment, ethnicity, gender, race, and regional studies.  In addition to undergraduate members, don't forget to invite eligible graduate students, faculty, and professional staff.

Please contact our office if you any assistance with your chapter's membership drive or any other matter.

Thank you!
