NATIONAL SERVICE PROJECT
Please join other chapters in the Pi Gamma Mu National Service Project!
Chapters are working together to support veterans, the homeless, and animals in animal shelters. Chapters may choose to do one, two, or all three components of the service project. This year’s National Service Project will end on June 30, 2022.
Chapters are encouraged to email photos and descriptions of their participation in the National Service Project to [email protected] for inclusion in a future issue of the Pi Gamma Mu Newsletter.
Descriptions of the national service project are listed below. If you have any questions, please contact Allison G. S. Knox, Chancellor of the Southeast Region and point of contact for the Pi Gamma Mu Service Project initiative. [email protected].
Homeless Box Drive - chapters contact an organization in support of the homeless and put together a donation box full of supplies the organization can use. The supplies are donated to an organization in support of the homeless.
Veterans - chapters contact a Department of Veterans Affairs hospital and collect toiletries and soft cover books in support of the veterans. Supplies are donated to a Department of Veterans Affairs hospital.
Animals - chapters will contact an animal shelter in their area and will put together a donation box full of supplies the organization can use. The supplies are donated to an animal shelter.
One of the service projects the Nebraska Delta Chapter at Wayne State College completes annually is the creation of 'tie blankets' which are donated through the local "Gifts for Kids" program in Wayne, Nebraska. The blankets go to local families in need. Dr. Randy Bertolas, Dr. Lisa Nelson (pictured, far left), and Dr. Jean Karlen are the Chapter Faculty Sponsors of the Nebraska Delta Chapter.
