CHAPTERS IN ACTION

FloridaMembers of the Pi Gamma Mu Board of Trustees visit members of the Florida Zeta Chapter

The Florida Zeta Chapter at Florida State University was recognized as Florida State University's Student Organization of the Year for its continued efforts with disability awareness on campus and in the surrounding Tallahassee community.  The chapter received a handsome wall plaque in recognition of the award.  Dr. Robert Crew is the chapter sponsor.

The Nebraska Delta Chapter at Wayne State College had another active fundraising year.  It held another hugely successful campus Book and Bake Sale on campus.  The chapter also co-sponsored the Festival of Trees, a campus-wide holiday season fundraiser founded by the chapter in 2004.  A major goal of the fundraising effort is to support community service projects including assisting families in need and to provide for student travel to international Pi Gamma Mu conventions.  The chapter also sponsored a graduate school workshop in October 2012 to provide information for students interested in continuing their education after graduating from Wayne State College.  The chapter sponsor is Dr. Randy Bertolas.

The Pennsylvania Alpha Chapter at Grove City College held a panel discussion entitled, "A Defense of the Social Sciences in a Scientific World."  The panel featured Dr. Gary Welton, assistant dean for institutional assessment and professor of psychology; Dr. Andrew Mitchell, assistant professor of history, Dr. Samuel Stanton, associate professor of political science; and Dr. David Ayers, dean of the Alva J. Calderwood School of Arts and Letters.  Approximately 60 students were in attendance.  The chapter also held a panel discussion on the topic of globalization with approximately 15 students in attendance.
