CHAPTER NEWSChapter news in this issue comes from the Louisiana Eta Chapter at Grambling State University and the Florida Lambda Chapter at Saint Leo University.
GRAMBLING STATE UNIVERSITY – Louisiana EtaThe Louisiana Eta Chapter at Grambling State University is promoting social distancing and the wearing of masks using the custom-made PGM masks pictured below. Dr. Frances Staten, Faculty Advisor of the Chapter, plans to use the items as a fundraiser for the chapter and to promote both community service and academic scholarship.
SAINT LEO UNIVERSITY – Florida LambdaThe Florida Lambda Chapter at Saint Leo University reported that many community events and activities were cancelled or restructured due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the Pi Gamma Mu induction ceremonies were held virtually through Zoom at all of the University's Centers. Although these events were well attended with faculty, alumni, inductees and their friends and family, it was no substitute for the formal in-person induction with food, fellowship, pageantry, and the actual lighting of the candles. The Chapter consists of members located at several education centers within Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and Virginia. Over the 2019-2020 academic year, each chapter participated in a variety of activities which are aligned with the seven ideals including but not limited to: Scholarship, Science, Social Science, Social Idealism, Sociability, Social Service and Sacrifice. Below are a few images and details of each activities that range from initiation ceremonies to community service to professional development.
